Fabio (NY 1957), has been a guest of the Menaggio Youth Hostel for over 20 years. Once he discovered that the town wanted to sell it to transform it into an Hotel, he started a fundraising campaign among other former hostel guests (and banks to finance this venture) to offer the town to purchase it, in order to keep it as an hostel. In 2010 he suceeded and the Hostel has been purchased by 20 former hostel guests, but now your help is needed, because the mortgage is huge, and every penny spent at this beautiful hostel will allow you and future generations to enjoy affordable lodging in beautiful Lake Como.

Hip The Menaggio Youth Hostel (an Hosteling International Hostel) has views that will literally take your breath away! It is well known as one of the best Youth Hostels in Europe for its great location on Lake Como; add excellent cuisine and friendly atmosphere and you have everything you need. The Hostel is now managed by a group of former hostel guests who want to preserve the tradition of affordable accommodation in an amazing place. The hostel offers excellent meals at an affordable price, organizes cooking, Italian Language, sailing and rock climbing courses (also for beginners lasting from a few hours to a few days) rents bikes and kayaks, has a licensed alpine guide to take people to do a Classical Alpine Via Ferrata, and provides detailed information for hiking in the area. There is a beach nearby and excellent rock climbing opportunities within walking distance. Nowhere in the world you can enjoy a beer or a glass of white in front of mountains turning pink at sunset.
